Why Do People Staple Signs Onto Trees?

These "Brooklyn Nights" posters were stapled onto the trees in Columbus Park in Downtown Brooklyn for a couple of days before we had the chance to tear them down. Unfortunately, the staples are still stuck into the wood.

    While you're tearing down the posters, why not bring along a pair of pliers to remove the staples too?
