Even though Hurricane Bill will probably not get within 200 miles of Brooklyn, a public advisory by the National Hurricane Center warns that "large swells generated by the hurricane" will "likely cause extremely dangerous surf and life threatening rip currents" along most of the East Coast this weekend, starting Friday and building Saturday.LARGE SWELLS GENERATED BY THIS HURRICANE ARE AFFECTING THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS...MOST OF THE U.S. EAST COAST...AND THE ATLANTIC MARITIMES OF CANADA DURING THE NEXT FEW DAYS. THESE SWELLS WILL LIKELY CAUSE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SURF AND LIFE-THREATENING RIP CURRENTS.
Sounds like we should take a pass on the beach this weekend.

I was at the Jersey shore a month ago.... left double over head Huntington Beach and had 2-3ft beach breaks... now it is as flat as a board in SoCal and NJ/NY get "epic swells".... bummer!
