New Yorkers are cautioned to travel through the storm only in an emergency:
IF YOU MUST TRAVEL KEEP AN EXTRA FLASHLIGHT...FOOD... AND WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY.
Yesterday Mayor Bloomberg released a 15-point action plan to improve the city's response to snow emergencies.
The plan includes equipping every Department of Sanitation truck with a GPS device enabled with two-way communication; using live monitors (SCOUT) to stream video of trouble spots; make the critical equipment available; deploy city employees from other departments and more.
