Cabbie Viciously Rapes Passenger in Brooklyn -- Still On the Loose

The belief that putting a drunken friend into a taxi so that she will get home safely has been shattered over the past few weeks, according to the Brooklyn Eagle.

In the latest outrage (the trial of two cops accused of raping a taxi passenger as they escorted her to her apartment is still in progress), a 26-year-old woman who had just celebrated Cinco de Mayo at the Public Assembly in Williamsburg stumbled into a cab in the wee hours, glad to be heading safely home. But the man driving the yellow cab was a monster who -- seeing she was tipsy -- viciously raped her and cut her up with a knife.

According to the Eagle, "It is unclear why the NYPD and city’s Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) are unable to track down the driver, or at least the vehicle, using the GPS-locator device that is installed in each yellow-cab."

The TLC's response to the Eagle is inadequate and infuriating. See the whole story and the perpetrator's sketch here.

And be very careful getting into taxis.
