A bunch of teens told their parents that they are the ones responsible for torching the brand new playground at P.S. 29 in Cobble Hill last weekend.
"It was an accident!" they told the Brooklyn Eagle. The "accident" broke the heart of the neighborhood, which had been waiting for this playground for three years.
Here's the kicker:
The teen's parents wired $50,000 into an account set up by a local attorney to make good on the damage. Full story here.

They didn't mean to do it? So what did they mean to do? Was it a prank? The person who commits arson, unless he's a paid criminal and even then his psychology is suspect, has serious problems and needs looking after and help, serious help. . . especially if they're adolescents.
ReplyDeleteKids do stupid things. When we were that age we accidentally set a lot on fire next door by shooting fire crackers up into the air with slingshots. Never occurred to us they could start a fire.
