Friday night we saw a truck pulling an intriguing red gyroscopic-type thing along Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights. "What the heck?" we wondered as we took this quick shot.
We had forgotten all about the red mystery object when we we popped by Our Lady of Lebanon's Lebanese Festival on Remsen St. in Brooklyn Heights this afternoon (Saturday). The weather was perfect and the tabbouleh was delicious.
Bands and the parish's dance troupe performed; this gentleman played Lebanese folk music.
Then we saw it -- the red gyroscopic thing! Turns out it is a ride: two people get into two separate seats and are strapped and buckled in literally from head to toe. Then someone gives the thing a push and the riders (like these two kids above) spin and twirl head over heels.
It looked like a blast. We didn't ride it though. Too much tabbouleh . . .
Here's some luck: the festival is on again tomorrow: Sunday, June 3 from noon to 5 p.m. So you can try the red gyroscopic thingy yourself. (Ride first, eat later.) More here.

Just be glad you don't live on Remsen Street. It's not pleasant to have a street festival in your living room all weekend.
ReplyDeleteMake noise, sell food, dance, sing, enjoy -- but honestly this Remsen Street festival is sooooooooooo loud, you can hear it on Pierrepont Street.
Didn't think of that -- One man's party is another man's pain in the butt.

ReplyDeleteYou are a big cliche and would probably be happier in a gated community. You are lucky enough to live in a nice place. Sometimes you have to share it.
