What sounded like a three-hour rendition of "I Will Not Dance to Your War Drum" -- interspersed with Elton John tunes mixed to a Latin beat -- deafened the north end of the Heights starting at 1 p.m.
The event was supposed to be the GLBT Summer Affair. For the first four hours of the noise, there were no more than 20 people, and most of them appeared to be somehow connected with setting up the "event."
There were two tables set up. One was manned by an earnest Obama supporter handing out campaign literature to virtually no one. The other had something to do with health, again with no takers.

Racism. Apparently the ooga booga drums (classic house music and disco, long demonized for their gay, black roots) and dark colored skin in bougie BK Heights has the white folk upset.
ReplyDeleteNo, it was the insane volume and the same damn song for four hours.
ReplyDeleteBut the police sirens and no explanation were fine.
ReplyDeleteThat was disco?
