24 Hour Read-In at Brooklyn Public Library's Main Branch, Saturday, June 7

June 7th - 8th, Brooklyn Public Library Central Library, Grand Army Plaza

3 p.m. Marching Band Kick-off, Readings Around The Clock From 4 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Urban Librarians Unite (ULU) will be holding a 24 Hour Read-In rally to support New York City public libraries at Brooklyn's Central Branch.

ULU is calling for a $65 million increase to the mayor’s proposed library budget to provide six-day-service in branches across the city. 

Sign up for a 15 minute reading timeslot. All are welcome to read, or simply enjoy this literary carnival and the marching band and weather balloons.

Readers include authors Maud Newton, Lev Grossman, Amy Sohn and Marek Waldorf. Readings will span multiple genres and include teen novels, late night spooks and Sunday morning family tales.

The event will begin on June 7th, 3:00 p.m. and continue until June 8th, 4:00 p.m. at Brooklyn Public Library Central Library, Grand Army Plaza. Full schedule as follows:

3 p.m. Sat June 7th, Rude Mechanical Orchestra, Balloon Banner Lift

4 p.m. Sat June 7th, Reading Begins With Notables

5-7 p.m. Sat June 7th, New York City Authors

7-8 p.m. Sat June 7th, Ned Vizzini Tribute

12-2 a.m. Sun June 8th, “Dark Hours” Erotica

2-3 a.m. Sun June 8th, Ghost Stories

9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Sun June 8th, Family Story Time

3 p.m. - 4 p.m. Authors & Notables

This is a literary event for all ages in support of all three library systems. Library usage is higher than it has ever been yet the budgets for the libraries is 20% lower than it was in 2008.
