On Saturday morning, people in the western US and Canada were able to observe a 5-minute total lunar eclipse and a so-called "blood moon."
Here in the East, we caught only a partial eclipse.
NASA says this was the
shortest eclipse of this type -- where the Earth's shadow obliterates our view of the moon -- of the century, according to CNN.
You can see why it's called a blood moon about halfway through this video. The moon takes on a slightly reddish hue during eclipses.
NASA says the fourth of this series of four eclipses will come September 28.
