A DOT "office," jerry-rigged from stacked transport containers, nestles on public land at the anchorage of the Manhattan Bridge in Dumbo. Similar Department of Transportation enclaves -- hidden behind low-grade fencing -- dot the anchorage area at the northernmost entrance to Brooklyn Bridge Park.
The Dumbo Neighborhood Association (DNA) -- with the help of Councilman Yassky -- is trying to reclaim these walled-off areas occupied by DOT under the Manhattan Bridge. Historic District Council Newsstand story here.
