'Toxic' Boerum Hill Preschool to Reopen, Director Says

The director of Brooklyn's "toxic" preschool -- the Brooklyn Children’s Preschool Academy on Dean Street in Boerum Hill -- told the Brooklyn Daily Eagle Monday that he plans to reopen the school -- at a future date yet to be decided. (Oddly, the sign hanging on their door, seen left, pinpoints the re-opening date as the "2008-2010" school year...)

Executive Director Andy Lewis also swears that he will refund the thousands of dollars in deposits owed to parents and teachers -- one of these days.

Last month the Eagle reported about the unsafe conditions parents found at the school (no heat, exposed wires, unpainted walls and noxious fumes emanating from newly installed carpeting).

  1. I wouldn't take Andy Lewis' word on anything concerning a refund of money. I rented office space from BBCC several years ago when they were on Jay St and Andy bounced a deposit return check to me - twice - after i moved out and I had to take him to court for the money. he was a no-show at court, i was awarded a default judgement and neither he nor anyone at BBCC ever paid up. just seeing his name again reminds me that i should probably contact a city marshall for help in collecting on the judgement.

  2. Is it true the preschool didn't pay their rent at the Pierrepont address?
