Last week a McBrooklyn reader sent in the tip: "...Earlier today I saw large shelving units on flat bed trucks in front of the Trader Joe space and the front door were open, presumably to move them in. It must be opening relatively soon."
We ran over to Trader Joe's yesterday (the old Independence Bank building at the corner of Atlantic and Court Street) and sure enough all kinds of lumber and building materials were in evidence. The shot above was taken through the door to the left of the main entrance.
Both the Brooklyn Paper and Brownstoner have shots of the large interior of the old Independence Bank building, filled with refrigerator cases and plywood.
A tipster on Brookynian.com says the opening is scheduled for September 28.
