Easter is this Sunday, which means this weekend is Easter egg hunting time. Many events across Brooklyn celebrate this holiday, so if you have little kids and some baskets, check out this list of egg hunts and get-togethers. (If you forgot to get a basket, a colorful little plastic bucket will also pass.)
If you live in Brooklyn Heights, make sure you're at Pierrepont Playground before 10 a.m. Saturday or you'll miss the goodies. (This is a very popular event, and more so since there's no egg hunt in DUMBO again this year.) If you live in Bay Ridge, you can sleep in and still catch the Senator’s Easter Egg Hunt in the afternoon. Red Hook has its own egg hunt Saturday afternoon as well: the Urban Meadow’s Second Annual Spring Egg Hunt. And Prospect Park's "Unscrambling the Egg" takes place both Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. On Sunday, Park Slope parents have organized an All Volunteer Easter Egg Hunt. In Prospect Heights, Sunday morning brings the Meet Your Neighbors Breakfast and Easter Egg Hunt.
- Times and details for all the above events can be found at the Brooklyn Eagle.
- More egg hunts across New York City can be found at Mommy Poppins and A Child Grows in Brooklyn.
- Many churches -- such as Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Bay Ridge, Grace Church in Brooklyn Heights, St. John St. Matthew in Park Slope and Church of the Nativity on Ocean Ave. -- have egg hunts after (or sometimes before) the Sunday service.
