Soon Borough President Marty Markowitz will be gone, and Carlo Scissura, his former chief of staff, has decided not to run for the position (but rather to become the next president of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce).
State Senator Eric Adams has the only hat in the ring. But Dennis Holt of the Brooklyn Eagle offers a nomination: Marilyn Gelber, head of the Brooklyn Community Foundation (once Independence Bank’s Community Foundation).
Among her qualifications: Gelber is a city planner, and once served as Brooklyn’s member of the City Planning Commission. She was Golden’s chief of staff when many of the critical decisions were made that led to the new Brooklyn, and negotiated some important agreements for Rudy Giuliani when he was mayor, says Holt.
An interesting nomination -- but Holt doesn't say if Gelber has any inclination to leave her present secure post. More here.
