It only took six months . . . but, according to the Brooklyn Eagle, the giant hole in the roof of the disintegrating Peaks Mason Mints ("Candy Factory") building has finally been patched.
The Eagle reported in an earlier article that a neighbor complained to the DOB that 20 Henry had been “shaking and vibrating,” possibly due to structural instability caused by the exposure to the elements.

Hey - I just had a look from my balcony and you're right! I've been worrying about that place for months now. I can only imagine how much water damage has been inflicted on that place since the blue tarp started flapping in the breeze last year. It's a real shame, but maybe this means they'll start working on it again and not just let it continue to decay.
ReplyDeleteThe first commenter is right, buildings such as these should be repaired or restored and put into good use. The building is situated in a fairly populated area, and leaving it to deteriorate may be dangerous for those who pass by it on the streets.
