Spike Lee's Red Hook Summer will premier at 6:30 p.m. Sunday (Jan.22) at the Sundance Film Festival. This is Lee's first premier at the festival.
The film tells the story of a young boy from Atlanta whose mother leaves him for the summer with his preacher grandfather in a Red Hook housing project. The entire film was shot within a 10-block radius.
According to Rolling Stone, ten songs by Judith Hill ("Heal the World"), mostly soulful ballads, are featured in the film. (Mookie, the Sal's Famous pizza delivery boy who first appeared in Lee's 1989 film Do The Right Thing, will be making a reappearance as well.)
Lee gives an interview about his work on the film to Hollywood Reporter, here.
