'Life Threatening' Wind Chills of -25°F Possible This Weekend in Brooklyn


According to the National Weather Service, "bitterly cold" and "life threatening" temperatures will move into the NYC area this weekend.

The Weather Service warns people not to venture outside without a hat, gloves and several layers of clothing.

NOAA:
TEMPERATURES SATURDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY SUNDAY MORNING WILL FALL CLOSE TO ZERO IN AND AROUND NEW YORK CITY... WIND CHILL VALUES DURING THIS TIME COULD REACH LIFE THREATENING LEVELS AS COLD AS 20 TO 25 BELOW ZERO.

WIND CHILL VALUES LATE SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY MORNING COULD LEAD TO FROSTBITE IN LESS THAN 30 MINUTES IF PROPER PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.

Snow/icy rain is not expected until Sunday night.

Meanwhile, temperatures on Tuesday soared to 85°F at Monterey, California, and into the 90°F range across the Los Angeles area, according to Weather Underground. Santa Ana’s "toasty high of 95°F" tied its monthly record for February.
