Four days of roughly 30 expanded “Bookend” literary-themed events started Thursday. These events take place in venues from clubs to bookstores and theaters to libraries across the borough, kicking off the sixth annual Brooklyn Book Festival.
The events range from a Literary Pub Quiz at DUMBO’s St. Ann’s Warehouse to readings, performances, discussions, a party at Greenlight, films at BAM, and even an artisanal marketplace.
One event worth pointing out is the showing (at Brooklyn Bridge Park) of "Home," a documentary film by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, which "explores the beauty and fragility of the earth through a series of astonishing aerial images, commentary narrated by Glenn Close, and a dazzling score by Armand Amar." The full Bookends Schedule is here.
The festival itself takes place on Sunday, September 18, from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. More than 260 top national and international authors will join literary organizations, booksellers and bibliophiles for the main festival at Brooklyn Borough Hall (209 Joralemon Street), Columbus Park, St. Francis College, St. Ann’s Church and the Brooklyn Historical Society.
