Tourists at City Hall Park were thrilled to pay $5 to have their Labor Day photos taken with the coolest statue of Liberty in New York.
There were actually two identical statues; both should have won a prize for costume and attitude.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or ironic, but in any event these folks are all poseurs. They use fake faces and have no moxie or individuality, and I suspect they buy or rent their costumes, or work for some big conglomerate.
Bottom line: I've met Jennifer Stewart when she was at the South Street Seaport back in the day and none of them come close to her:
http://www.nytimes.com/1996/07/14/nyregion/bearing-the-torch-for-art-and-quarters.html. Regrettably, the online version doesn't include the photo that I remember accompanying the print article (this was pre-Internet when I paid for the paper). You'll note the Brooklyn Heights connection, too.
Her popularity led to others in green paint and costumes, but now these new folks (especially rampant where tourists gather, and in midtown) just have plastic faces. Phooey. You might as well eat Lender's bagels and have rye bread without the seeds.
Ok-should've Googled first before hitting publish. Here are some links, but there are many:

I've not seen her since about the time of the NY Times article, and she was very nice and very kind, but who knew you could make a living at this for so long?
We agree, Jennifer Stewart has no equal! We were commenting on the "cool" 'tude of the statues.
Those ain't cool 'tudes, but frozen plastic faces like Jack Nicholson's Joker.
Does this make Jennifer Stewart's face comparable to Health Ledger's Joker?
