GE is doing something really nifty in DUMBO this week: an interactive hologram experience called "Throttle UP" where you -- by waving your hands around -- assemble an advanced GEnx jet engine out of parts floating in a space-like sky.
The experience uses motion-capture synched to your hands and a slew of 3D rendering techniques in an impressive installation. Your hands show up as a blue glow as you move the pieces around (as in photo above).
The free exhibit is part of Creative Week 2012, and is open from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. May 7 - 11 at 56 Water Street.
Creative Week is where "advertising, design, and digital media collide with the arts."
UPDATE: More about the exhibit at the Brooklyn Eagle.
