These guys working on the windows at Schermerhorn House (Schermerhorn near Smith Street in Downtown Brooklyn) seemed to be weirded out when a couple of fire engines came roaring up and fire fighters poured into the building.
But it turned out to be a false alarm. Soon the excitement was over and everyone went back to work.
The Actors Fund and Common Ground Community are developing this residence for single adults. Half of the building will target individuals affiliated with the performing arts and entertainment industry, and half will house formerly homeless individuals living with HIV/AIDS or mental health needs. More here.
Request to be on the wait list here.
