At 6 p.m. Thursday, Assemblymember Walter T. Mosley, City Council Member Laurie Cumbo, and District Leader Geoffrey Davis will hold a town hall to discuss public safety in Crown Heights and Prospect Heights during J’ouvert.
The town hall will take place at P.S. 375.
J'ouvert is the celebration that kicks off the night before the West Indian Day Parade.
Roughly 2,000 police officers were stationed at jouvert/the parade last September, but violence still broke out. Two people were shot and killed.
In 2015, one of Governor Cuomo's aides, Carey Gabay, was killed at J'ouvert.
Officials are looking at the future of the event.
