Librarians Call On de Blasio to Increase Library Budget by $65 Million

savenyclibraries.org
Urban Librarians Unite (ULU) has launched a petition on change.org calling for a budget increase for NYC public libraries to provide six-day branch service across the city.

The petition, addressed to the New York City Council and Mayor Bill de Blasio, calls the 2014 proposed budget “inadequate” and demands a budget increase totalling $65 million for all three public library systems combined.

Mayor De Blasio has not proposed an increase in the budget, which had been reduced three years prior. The City Council has requested a $35 million increase.

The effort was launched in partnership with The Charles H. Revson Foundation.

A runner died at or soon after this past weekend's Brooklyn half marathon. Have you come across any articles on it? I'd like to know what happened but haven't seen anything on it other than the post race NYRR email that had no details.
