NYU Stamps Its Feet, Gets Rid of Nurses Union at LICH

NYU doesn't have to keep its promise to hire back nurses at the LICH ER after all!

After some backroom nudging by the state, a judge ruled that that pesky little promise in Fortis' winning proposal is just wind and air . . .

Not does Fortis have to provide affordable housing. Or anything else that was in their proposal!

All the other bidders had to comply with what they promised in their proposals. That's how they were ranked, after all.

For Fortis, their proposal is . . . just wind and air . . .

NYU is a great health care provider, this is the best thing to happen to Brooklyn since the Nets came to Brooklyn.

There are lots of other urgent care centers, and NYU is building them elsewhere in Brooklyn without knocking down hospitals.

This could be built in any building in Downtown Brooklyn, or on a floor in the same building Mt. Sinai is using, or in the same building on Joralemon Street another walk-in center is using.

It's just an urgent care center. It won't even be built for 3 years. (If ever, since apparently they don't even have to follow the proposal.) They have not even filed with DOH to build it. There's always tomorrow, ho hum.
