Gowanus Goes Green Sunday

The Gowanus Canal Conservancy is hosting a green festival called Gowanus Goes Green today, Sunday June 1, 2008, from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Carroll Street between Bond and Nevins, including the historic Carroll Street Bridge:

-Live music from the Defibulators

-Food and beverages from V-Spot vegan restaurant and Union Hall

-Children’s activities including fun, do-it-yourself art projects using discarded materials and led by RePlayGround, arts and crafts projects and a letter-writing campaign, face painting with Sharon Enlow and more.

-A working ambulance (provided by FDNY) and a display of AdRide recumbent bikes for children to explore

-Dept. of Environmental Protection boat called the Jamaica Bay.

Plenty of space to relax under the trees while you listen to the band, check out the skimmer vessel, enjoy the different activities and munch on healthy treats.
