Brooklyn councilmember Bill de Blasio sent us word that oral arguments on the merits of the Term Limits lawsuit will begin today, Monday, January 5th, at 4:30pm.
Arguments take place at the Federal Courthouse for the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, Courtroom 6-A. The Courthouse is located in Downtown Brooklyn at 225 Cadman Plaza East.
A coalition of officials, candidates and others filed the lawsuit in November to challenge the term limits extension that was passed by the City Council and signed into law by Mayor Bloomberg this fall.
The plaintiffs seek to invalidate the law and require a public referendum. The case has been assigned to Judge Sifton in the Eastern District.
