As the development of these problematic sites goes forward, local officials including Council Member Stephen Levin have announced a community "planning meeting" on Monday, December 9,from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at PS 372, 512 Carroll Street in Brooklyn.
The purpose of the meeting is to to develop a Gowanus land use plan -- but it is possible the land use plan is already at least partially developed, as several non-public meetings have already taken place, according to the Pardon Me for Asking blog. PMFA believes that the public needs to take back the planning process.
Pratt Center for Community Development is facilitating the meeting. (More on the meeting here.)
From Community Board 6, we learned that the Lightstone work that has already started includes:
363 Bond Street:
- Completion of sidewalk bridge & fence installation
- Asbestos abatement on roof and inside building, performed by personnel in full protective gear
365 Bond Street:
- Construction fence relocation
- Demolition start
- Soil boring at bulkhead
- Subcontractor walk-throughs
400 Carroll Street:
- Deliveries to construction trailer
- Brick mock-up installation
