DOE: Brooklyn Tech Won't Move

Last week the Department of Education told the Brooklyn Daily Eagle that they were NOT moving Brooklyn Tech. It seems that in December a spokesperson for Forrest City Ratner said they would work with the city to build a new, state-of-the-art Tech. This set off all kinds of warning bells among some Tech alumni, many of whom recently donated fortunes to build new science labs, an athletic field, a refurbished library, etc.

"While students and Brooklyn Technical High School administration admit that a few of the rooms could use some upgrading, the thought of moving from the 74-year-old, eight-story building filled with science labs, a 3,012-seat theater and a huge swimming pool in the basement hit some as a pure real estate play," says the Eagle.

Forest City Ratner spokesman Joe DePlasco backpedaled, says that FCRC is leaving it up to the Department of Education. See the entire story here.
