Smokey Robinson will play a free concert Sept. 12 in Cadman Plaza Park in Brooklyn Heights/ Downtown Brooklyn as part of the Recovery Rally, sponsored by A&E to “raise awareness that addiction is a treatable disease and recovery is possible.”
The rally celebrates the 20th anniversary of National Alcohol and Drug Addiction Recovery Month.
The event will start at 8:30 a.m. in Manhattan’s Foley Square followed by a march across the Brooklyn Bridge to Cadman Plaza. At the noon concert, Robinson will sing classic hits as well as songs from his new release, “Time Flies When You’re Having Fun."
Let's hope that local residents don't have to endue midnight and 7 a.m. sound checks Friday night and Saturday morning like they did last year. No other organization holding a rally at Cadman Plaza Park has ever been so inconsiderate to those living near the park.
