Explore the Life of That Plant In the Parking Lot

The kids from Urban Plant Research are turning Open Source Gallery into a center for urban plant discussion,through August 30. They're inviting community participation inside the gallery as well as hosting plant walks through the neighborhood.

UPRis a collaboration between the artists Sara Bouchard, based in Brooklyn, and Leslie Kuo, based in Berlin, dedicated to investigating the lives of plants in urban areas.

The two explore, document and interpret their green subjects through photography, drawing, text and video, and maintain the online journal www.urbanplantresearch.org.

Gallery hours, with artists in residence:
Thursday-Friday 3-7pm
Saturday-Sunday 12-6pm

Week One
Sat. August 15, 7-10pm: Opening
Sun. August 16, 1-5pm: Herb tea on the stoop

Week Two
Sat. August 22, 6pm: “A Walk Around the Block,” an urban nature walk led by the artists, followed by a happy hour featuring local mint mojitos

Week Three
Fri. August 28, 3-5pm: Activities for kids
Sun. August 30, 1-5pm: “Acoustic Jam for the Plants,” a jam open to all levels and genres of musicians. Bring your acoustic instrument and join in, or just bring along your houseplant and listen.
