The Awesome 'Swoon' in Brooklyn Bridge Park

'Swoon,' a most unusual theater/dance/performance piece by Australia's Strange Fruit was awesome Saturday in Brooklyn Bridge Park. In the 20 minute performance, the four-member cast swayed eerily on poles above the crowd, acting out themes of love, despair and redemption.

In case you missed it, here are two video clips from one of Saturday's performances.

There seems to be a psychic link between Australia and Brooklyn. Think about it.

"strange fruit" is a pretty terrible name for an entertainment/circus group, considering its meaning.

hey kids, let's go down to the park and watch "lynched blacks" swing under the bridge! it's gonna be AWESOME!

What I want to know-- how the hell do they get down from there?
It looks quite painful to... um... how shall we say... slide down that pole?

They shimmy, like circus acrobats.

Wow, just read the Wikipedia definition of "Strange Fruit." I never knew that before, poster #4. I wonder if the Aussies were totally aware of the connection?
