We were walking past the little fish pond on Monroe Place in Brooklyn Heights when the fish swam up to the edge and repeatedly opened and closed their mouths. We took this to mean it was feeding time.
We hope it doesn't mean that they were shouting to us in tiny little fish voices, because that would just be weird.

They usually do that to gulp air, when there's not enough dissolved oxygen in the water. Or maybe they were complaining about the impending sale of their building....
They're selling? How do you know? They've been there for years.
The sale was posted on Brownstoner.com in the last month or so. The comments were that 3 Monroe Place was priced too high, esp. when you consider the semi-destroyed 1 Monroe Place aka 100 Clark Street is next door.
