NYC Mayoral Control of Schools: Something's Happening

There are signs of movement on Mayor Bloomberg's push to regain total control of the city's schools. Here are the latest developments:

- There's a deal in the works today, reports NY1. Local State Senate Democrats will be discussing a plan this afternoon that would eliminate the newly-recreated Board of Education. NY1 and NYTimes

- And if that deal falls through: the borough presidents of Brooklyn and Manhattan have called on Dennis Walcott, president of the newly reconstituted New York City Board of Education, to get the Board together in August to tackle at least three urgent educational issues that need to be dealt with this summer.
