Brooklyn Permafrost Thaws, Leaving Yuck In Its Place

The big, dirty glacier that has been Brooklyn since December 26, 2010 thawed yesterday, revealing lost items of clothing and primitive artifacts, and leaving in its wake six-inch-deep scummy puddles on every street corner. (The above photo shows Fulton Street near Bond in Downtown Brooklyn.)

Above: Brooklyn Borough Hall Plaza/ Columbus Park, with two brave green market vendors freezing their buns off in the sleet and freezing rain.

According to the National Weather Service, today there is a chance of rain or freezing rain before noon, then a slight chance of rain between noon and 2pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 40.
