Hundreds More Dead Birds, This Time in Louisiana -- UPDATED

Is this how it begins?

Louisiana state biologists are trying to determine what killed roughly 500 birds that fell on a highway in Point Coupee Parish. According to KATC, this discovery comes just three days after from 3,000 - 5,000  red-winged blackbirds fell from the sky in Beebe, Ark.

The birds in Arkansas suffered internal injuries that formed deadly blood clots, according to Huff Post. While countless explanations have been put forward (lightning, hail, fireworks), no one knows for sure why birds are falling out of the sky.

A week prior to the Arkansas bird kill, 83,000 dead drum fish washed up along a river about 100 miles west of Beebe.

Wildlife officials claim the incidents are not related, according to CBS.

UPDATE 1/8/10: On Wednesday, hundreds -- possibly thousands -- of dead and dying birds were found in Italy. Countless turtle doves were found scattered in the streets, in flower beds and hanging tragically from trees "like Christmas balls" in the town of Faenza. Huff Post
