(For October 28 fireworks, see here.) Fireworks were scheduled for tonight at 7:30 p.m. in New York Harbor, south of Ellis Island -- did anyone see or hear them?
According to NYC 3-1-1, the fireworks were sponsored by the National Parks Conservation Association in honor of the 125th anniversary of the State of Liberty. (NewYorkology agrees.)
To mark the 125th Anniversary, The National Park Service has been tweeting "125 tweets in 125 days." Since June 26th they've tweeted about notable events since the Statue's dedication in 1886. This will go on until October 28th -- when there will be more fireworks! (between 8 - 9:15 p.m.)
Follow Statue of Liberty tweets here.
Seems like we've had a lot of fireworks lately. Expect more Saturday, October 8 at 9:30 p.m. near Liberty Island. Saturday's sponsors are the Metro Yacht Charters of New York.
