Double Fireworks In New York Harbor/ Brooklyn Tonight (6/9/2011)

Bet you thought it was thunder at first, right?

Those fireworks you heard at 8:30 p.m. took place off Pier 14 at the South Street Seaport -- and according to I Boat NY Harbor, we can expect more of them at 10:30 p.m. off Liberty Island, closer to New Jersey.

The first fireworks celebrated Hope for the Warriors, dedicated to the men and women wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan, their families, and families of the fallen.

The 10:30 fireworks are part of the Boomer Esiason Foundation/Empire Challenge Fireworks fundraiser for cystic fibrosis.

Fireworks are also taking place off Coney Island tonight.
