Here's the New East River Ferry Map

The new East River ferry launched Monday. Finally -- an easy and fun way to get to all the places we want to go! You can find the interactive version on New York Waterway's web site.

FYI--the ferry to Pier 6 is ONLY on Fridays, which makes absolutely no sense. We went to Childrens Festival at the Seaport on Saturday, expecting to get a quick ride home, but no ferry. Even the ferry to Dumbo runs on the weekend, it had over an hour waiting list.

The best way is probably to take the Governor's Island Ferry on weekends to get to Pier 6. Take it from Manhattan to Governors Island, walk about a block to the Brooklyn ferry. Take that ferry from Govs Island to Pier 6. Anyone know of a better way?

I created a google map and labeled all the ferry terminals to make it easier to see the entire route in one place. you can check out
bikespress.com to see it in action. I also plan to update it with real time boat location information.
