Atlantic Antic Today (Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009)

The gargantuan Atlantic Antic Street fair (from Hicks Street to 4th Ave.) starts today at 10 a.m. and lasts till 6. This Brooklyn tradition is the real deal -- with food from all the restaurants lining the street, artisans, vendors, information booths and live entertainment, plus lots of activities for kids.

- There will be nine sound stages this year (highlights here).

- Here's a link to the schedule of events, including kids activities.

New this year: A Festival Favorite Award, honoring the most popular edible treat at the Antic. Attendees can vote on the wide variety of international food found on the street (including Middle Eastern baklava and hummus, Spanish paella, Caribbean oxtail, and Parisian crepes, or the pulled pork and steak sandwich on a pretzel roll served by Building on Bond Cafe, the grilled sardines from La Mancha Restaurant, etc). The winner will receive a two-night stay at Nu Hotel, dinner for four at Deity Lounge & Supper Club, and a two-day car rental from All Car Rent A Car.
