Hurricane Irene Power Outages in Brooklyn -- UPDATE Sunday, 8 p.m.

UPDATE: As of 8 p.m. Sunday, Con Ed reports that roughly 7,000 customers in Brooklyn are still without power.The company says it hopes to get all power up and running by Tuesday.

As of 1:20 p.m. Sunday, 15,006 Con Ed customers were without power in Brooklyn due to Hurricane Irene.

Roughly 3,100 customers in Brooklyn lost power by 3 a.m.Sunday morning due to Hurricane Irene, according to Con Ed.

Power Outages Have Begun in Brooklyn:
At 11 p.m. Con Ed was reporting that roughly 1,000 customers were without power in Brooklyn -- before Hurricane Irene even hit.

Roughly 500 customers are experiencing a power outage near Avenue D and 55th Street; under 10 customers have lost power in Park Slope; 90 customers are in the dark in Coney Island; 433 are out of juice in Gravesend, and there are several instances of burning wires or wires down.
