Queen of Soul R-E-S-P-E-C-T-S Brooklyn! Aretha Franklin Singing at Coney

The one and only Aretha Franklin will be performing on Thursday, August 4, at the Seaside Summer Concert Series at Coney Island, hosted by Brooklyn BP Marty Markowitz.

When Rolling Stone magazine named the 100 Greatest Singers of All Time, Aretha placed first.

“I know I speak for all Brooklynites when I say we’re thrilled to welcome the Queen of Soul to the County of Kings,” said Markowitz. “This summer, Brooklyn spells “respect” A-R-E-T-H-A!"

Last year Franklin had to cancel her Brooklyn performances after she fell and broke two ribs. (Note that this year the press release says, "Performers are subject to change without notice." Just in case.

This summer, the shows are held at West 21st Street and Surf Avenue. A limited number of $5 rental chairs in a specially designated area are available on a first come, first served basis. Shows begin at 7:30pm.

Call the concert hotline for updates at 718-222-0600 or visit www.brooklynconcerts.com.

Along with the Martin Luther King, Jr. Concert Series in Wingate Field in Central Brooklyn, the Seaside Series has been the largest free summer concert series in the New York Metropolitan area for the past three decades.
