Flooding Kocks Out Power In Parts of Brooklyn and Queens

The weekend's heavy rains have caused power outages for thousands of residents of Brooklyn and Queens. By 6:30 p.m. Sunday some power was restored but 1,655 Brooklyn customers (each customer equals one meter) were still without service. In Queens, 460 customers were without power at that time.

NY1 reports heavy flooding in parts of Queens and Staten Island as well. The MTA reported a number of subway problems due to flooding as well, but these should be cleared up by Monday. But the flooding may have an impact on both the Long Beach and Far Rockaway branches of the Long Island Rail Road during Monday morning's commute.

To report a power outage, call 1-800-75-CON-ED.
