Workers are going around the clock to get Jane's Carousel in Empire State Park ready to open by September 16th, the opening date posted on Janescarousel.com.
The carousel's housing, designed by Jean Nouvel, shone like a jewel last night. A few workers were still inside, but not the horses. A park employee told us that Walentas hoped to open the park as early as Labor Day but that seems like it would be pushing it.

Gorgeous project, but believe each ride is a whopping $15--certainly not for the average working stiffs' kids.
According to their sign each ride is $2. See here:

$15 a ride? This ain't Yankee Stadium.
How did this $15 a ride rumor start? It's $2 folks. No big deal.
They cut down some really beautiful trees that had been growing in the park for over 20 years go get that carousel in Fulton Ferry Park. I have no desire to ride on it.
Please don't tell me they cut down the ancient mulberry tree.
There are trees in Brooklyn Bridge Park? I've seen seedlings, but I thought they cut all of the trees down.
We're getting excited about the opening of Jane's Carousel as well, the photo you posted of it illuminated by night really looks great!
