162 additional cops will be assigned to Brooklyn to help combat the 8 percent surge in shootings this year, the NY Daily News reports.
Brooklyn is the shootingest borough in the city -- 232 this year so far.
Even as we write this, the scanner is reporting gunfire on Prospecrt Place near Classon (12:45 a.m.)
The Bronx has had 158 shootings; Queens had 67; 49 in Manhattan and 15 in Staten Island.
The Daily News reports the three-month surge is part of "Summer All Out" program initiated by top NYPD cop Bratton. The Bronx will also be getting extra officers, but not as many as Brooklyn -- 151 going there. Queens, not a gun hotbed, is getting 13. Manhattaan and Staten Island get zilch.
