An epic crowd of Asian-American and their supporters filled Cadman Plaza Park on Saturday to rally for Peter Liang, the former NYPd police officer convicted of fatally shooting Akai Gurley at the Pink Houses, a Brooklyn housing project.

Speakers expressed condolences to the Gurley family, but called the shooting an accident, not a crime.

"One tragedy, two victims," they said.

Speakers called Liang a scapegoat and a victim of a failed system.

The crowds' chants could be heard across Brooklyn Heights. Police said it looked like anywhere from 10,000 to 15,000 protesters were in the park. Many who could not fit stood on the sidewalk outside the park, and across the street.

The rally was sponsored by the Coalition for Asian Americans for Civil Rights (CAACR).
