Empire Stores, Dumbo, at Twilight

It's amazing that so few people come down to the "beach" in Dumbo at this time of evening. It's such a peaceful respite after a harried day.

I remember the days long ago when I used ride my bike to Water Street especially those hot summer nights and then would ride under the Brooklyn Bridge and sit there cooling by the East river undisturbed by anyone except for the sound of tires above me. It was dark, it was cool, it was quiet in a thrashing about city. The old Empire park where I first kissed my wife to be was always empty. It was my respite and it became ours until the time she was taken away from me. And now it is just sad to see what has become of my lost waterfront.
