Cranberry Street Fair in Brooklyn Heights, the Sweetest Little Street Fair

This past weekend in Brooklyn featured both the largest and the smallest street fairs in Brooklyn.

Let's talk about the smallest: That would be Cranberry Street Fair, in Brooklyn Heights. This year's fair was the 30th anniversary of the sweetest little street festival in Brooklyn.

It's just the locals, cooking up cupcakes, selling books and odds and ends, running games for the kids, painting faces and plastering on tattoos. There were belly dancing lessons, tug-of-war and a pet parade.

A Tarot card reader told fortunes and local businesses gave away gifts. (We won a family pass to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden!) All the proceeds go to keeping up the plantings and flowers on the street.

In the video below, folks at the fair learn how to belly dance:

I'm not sure I's call it a street fair...more like a block party.
