Getting Ready for 'Rock and Roll Circus' at Brooklyn's 'Top Secret' Pier 3

That huge structure going up on Pier 3 under the Brooklyn Heights Promenade? It's going to be used to house a humongous rock and roll circus!

From Altsounds: "Diesel will unleash the biggest international party the world has ever seen on Saturday, October 11, 2008 ... The grand finale will take place in New York City with a never before seen 'Rock and Roll Circus' themed party for 5,000 of Diesel's closest friends and coolest trendsetters . . . Diesel will present the show of a lifetime with theatrical circus elements including cabaret, fire eaters, trapeze artists, sword swallowing, female roller derby squads . . . "

Confirmed band include N.E.R.D., M.I.A. and Hot Chip, plus a surprise performance.

Don't tell a soul; the release says: "The top secret venue has never hosted an event before and will be turned into a park immediately after making Diesel the one and only brand to use the space."

Residents of Brooklyn Heights had expressed concern about loud music and heavy traffic at a Brooklyn Bridge Park meeting way back in 2000. This should reassure them that their concerns were taken very, very seriously. . .

UPDATE: According to the Brooklyn Eagle, Diesel paid $200,000 for the privilege of using Pier 3 for the event, and it will most likely be a one-time kind of event.
