Senate Passes Bailout Plan, But House May Balk

The International Herald Tribunereports that the Senate passed the $700 bailout plan. The Senate margin was 74 to 25 in favor of the White House plan. Here.

UPDATE:

As the bill heads back tothe House, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer warned there was a possibility that additional Democrats may oppose the plan because of tax breaks added by the Senate, which aren't offset with spending cuts.

"There are people who are upset that we are making the deficit worse as we try to stabilize the economy,'' he said, according to Bloomberg.com.
