You always remember your first time.
After about a year without the real thing we wandered into Blue Ribbon Sushi on Fifth Ave. in Park Slope. It was our first time there and we became instant converts. The difference between Blue Ribbon and the dozens of sushi wanna-bees all over Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill is like the difference between manna and Wonder Bread.
Maybe it was just the perfect night -- along with the perfectly fresh fish and the perfectly trained Japanese sushi chefs -- but the meal was a ten.
Blue Ribbon is quite expensive. Guess we'll have to save up a while for a second go round.
Here are the Yelp reviews.
